“We are not reaching these young adults. They do not want to be with the older hardcore homeless adults.”
Who We Are

Zara Babitzke, Our Founder

Since 1998, Zara Babitzke, MA, Director of Resource Development for Marin County Children’s System of Care (CSOC), has been providing a “helping hand” to Marin County’s lowest income, most vulnerable families and children. In this capacity she has developed crucial, non-categorical, community resources that no system or agency in the County could provide to keep families from homelessness.

In the process, she has developed a committed network of 252 businesses, individuals, civic organizations and faith communities that help bridge, connect, and assist these families to unify across generations, socio-economic class, and cultural differences.

Zara’s personal approach to communications is responsible for her ability to develop millions of dollars in enduring partnerships and collaborations with businesses and individuals throughout Marin County on behalf of the families of the child-serving systems of social services, mental health, juvenile services and education.

In addition, she has enormously increased the awareness, mission and funding of Matrix Family Partnership Program for the Marin County Children’s System of Care, the Community Institute of Psychotherapy and Sunny Hills Children’s Garden, three non-profit agencies in Marin County. She is able to move individuals, companies and small businesses forward in meaningful ways to achieve anticipated goals with timely, cost-effective results.

Zara’s work through the years has encompassed many different fields and a variety of audiences to achieve a common goal: actualizing people’s visions, working in challenging situations to bring focus and support to uncharted territories. This work has included market research, business to business, professional services, media and strategic public relations and marketing, nonprofit fund development, for profit and nonprofit program design and development, project management, personal development consultancy, community building and outreach campaigns.

Her results-oriented approach to business continues to achieve successful, beyond all expectations, outcomes for the partnerships she creates. Her thorough exploration and understanding of each person she assists, provides the perfect catalyst to bring their dreams into reality.

With her inquisitive mind, and a love of learning, Zara completed her undergraduate work in Education and the Arts with a BA, Summa Cum Laude, from the University of Pittsburgh. Her graduate work at San Francisco State was completed with an MA in Social Work Summa Cum Laude with an advanced credential in Integrated Community Services.

As champion of the Arts and the creative spirit, Zara takes full ownership as a partner for each project she is committed. Her partnerships with individuals, businesses, organizations and faith communities in Marin County on behalf of the families and children in the child-serving systems of social services, juvenile services, community mental health and education have benefited over 930 of the County’s most vulnerable families and children.

At AHO, Zara continues to give the gift she was given at birth; a keen ability to generate enthusiasm and involve others in new ventures which bring hope and opportunity to enhance us all.
